Is everything Antique or Vintage?

We’re very proud to say yes! Very few items are pre-loved, but most are vintage or antique; you’ll find more detail on each listing.

What’s the difference between Antique/Vintage and pre-loved?

Antique items are over 100 years old.
Vintage items are between 20 and 100 years old.
Pre-loved is everything earlier then 20 years old.

Why buy Antique/Vintage?

Our question is: why wouldn’t you? There’s an incredible amount of benefits to buying older jewellery, a short list below:

Quality ~ most modern jewellery is cast, even in high-end bespoke modern pieces, it’s almost impossible to find the same level of quality and workmanship as we regularly see in old jewellery.

Unique ~ most modern jewellery is mass produced, meaning there’s thousands of pieces exactly the same ~ with Antique or Vintage you’re very unlikely to come across another just like yours.

Ethical ~ there’s lots of ethical issues around diamond/metal mining.
Examples being: erosion, pollution, greenhouse gases, carbon emissions.
In contrast, when you buy antique or vintage items, you’re extending the life of a piece that’s already been mined, manufactured, travelled etc.

Sustainability ~ as well as the above ethical issues, the mass production process is out of control.

Buying Antique or Vintage is an amazing way to pass down items already in circulation, not to mention how special they are with so much unknown history. Why wouldn’t you want to give new life to old pieces?
